The capital city of Thailand is not called Bangkok at all. The formal and correct name of the world's longest place is too cumbersome for daily use, so Thai people call the city as "Krung Thep". Only foreigners call the city Bangkok. Bangkok is very exciting and vibrant city, situated in the central plains of Thailand, on the Chao Phraya River near the Gulf of Thailand. It is an administrative, economic, and cultural center of Thailand. It is also a major commercial and transportation hub for South-east Asia. The city has impressive temples and tourist attractions, an endless number of decent restaurants, with food often at bargain prices. Bangkok is an amazing city for nightlife, with numbers of pubs, bars and nightclubs, along with the famous adult-orientated entertainment. Thai people are very friendly. They are tolerant of the challenges of life and manage to keep their fun loving and easy-going spirit. The Grand Palace situated in the heart of Bangkok, on the banks of Chao Phraya River. It was the residence of the Kings of Siam and is combination of Thai and European architecture and one of the most popular tourist attractions of Bangkok. Safari World is a fantastic zoo in Bangkok and is divided into two parts. Safari Park is the first part and Thailand's greatest open zoo and leisure park. The major attractions here are Jungle Cruise, CDV War, Eggs World, Bollywood Cowboy Stunt Show and Orangutan Boxing Show. Second part is Marine Park that houses a rich variety of marine animals. We can catch dolphins, birds and other trained animals putting up a delightful show. Dream World, Pattaya, Siam Ocean World, etc are city attractions of Bangkok. Shopping is also good value, with a huge variety of goods sold everywhere from street market stalls to upmarket in shopping centers. Shops are open every day, generally until around 9 or 10 pm.
